Nikki Caldwell, M.A., LMHCA

I work with, adults & young professionals who often feel stuck and acknowledge that some areas of their life could benefit from proactive and intentional work. Together, we’ll work through your difficult experiences, life transitions, depression and anxiety, perfectionism, self-defeating negative thoughts, and boundary issues in your relationships. I am passionate about assisting clients by shining a light on the patterns I see that contribute to your unwanted habits, thoughts, emotions, behaviors, or outcomes. Together we’ll hone your existing strengths, while we address the areas where you’re struggling. I also have experience working with neurodivergent populations in various age groups providing acceptance and affirming care and focus on executive functioning skills, identifying and overcoming barriers whether in school, interpersonal relationships, or from work, and general stress and help build social skills.

As a therapist it is important to consider the client's needs, wants, strengths and personality, to determine the best approach. Therapeutic techniques I utilize include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, mindfulness-based techniques, Psychodynamic.

I believe that within yourself you hold the insight and ability to overcome the barrier in your life. Allow me to walk beside your safe space as you go through this journey. The counseling process may have moments of discomfort and challenges, but it can be remarkably empowering and together WE will get through it.

I have obtained my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. Before entering the counseling profession, I have worked as a teacher for Chicago Public Schools. In my free time, I enjoy meditation, and spending time with my loved ones, which includes my tiny Pomeranian puppy named Scout.
